The Owner

Capt Tony NobregasTony Nobregas is the owner of La Jolla Resort. Keenly aware of the environment, and the obligation to the community in which he works and lives, he and the staff at LaJolla Resort strive to protect and enhance both for their children's future.
Our environment in the Keys, the overall "Keys Atmosphere", is what everyone comes here for. The Nobregas family intends to protect and preserve that "Keys Atmosphere" by active involvement in the community as a family unit. They live by the motto, "Our future is our children, and everything we do is for our children's future."

Tony has strong feelings about family and community, saying, "I want to make a difference in our village. We bought a resort which has hosted those who cared less about our community. I want our children to respect the environment and see Islamorada as it was when we moved here. Also, for our guests, it is our goal to keep the resort property as beautiful as the surrounding area. Islamorada is our home, a feeling we wish to share with our guests."

Capt. Tony is one of the most sought after backcountry guides in the Florida Keys. He is outgoing, professional and has a razor-sharp sense of humor. Excellent with children, Tony rarely returns to the dock empty handed. A member of the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Association, Capt. Tony has been a charter captain since 1985.
Of course, Capt. Tony sees the resort venture through the eyes of a fisherman, ... "When any angler returns to the dock, our resort will virtually become part of an overall fishing experience. Here, fishermen can enjoy our new angler's lounge or cook their own fish on the beach front grill. Believe me, at day's end, our guests will feel a kind of peace and tranquillity which will be hard to find elsewhere. The view alone is breathtaking." Said Capt. Tony.

Since the purchase of the resort, the buildings have all been repainted, the pool has been renewed, the rooms have been completely refurbished, with cable television installed in every room. And, according to Tony, "We've even hired new people who are friendly and actually have a work ethic. What a concept!"

Staying at the La Jolla may be a slightly different experience from other resorts. Here, you are likely to make new friends, while touching the face of nature, surrounded by an environment compelling an annual return visit to La Jolla Resort, with new friends you'll never forget.
