About the La Jolla Resort
The La Jolla Resort is located at mile marker 82.2, on Upper Matecumbe Key, in Islamorada, the Florida Keys. About an hour and a half from Miami's International Airport, the scenic drive on the Overseas Highway allows for a "Keys" attitude adjustment, prior to the friendly check in.
When entering the La Jolla, notice the lush, tropical vegetation including, seven varieties of palm trees, frangipani, bougainvillea, hibiscus, key limes, orchids and bromeliads, just to name a few.
Also, our beach area features a grill, lounge chairs, a shuffleboard court, ceramic tables and benches, boat ramp, docks and a fishing pier.
Our apartments are in five villa-like buildings and a deluxe cottage, varying in size, from one to three rooms. The apartments are tastefully decorated to be compatible with the unique environment of the Florida Keys. All are air conditioned including cable television, bathrooms, showers, kitchens, linens and daily maid service.
Our Sportsman's Lounge Sportcenter features a huge TV for watching those games you so love. No need to miss them just because you're on vacation. There is also a VCR and a large collection of fishing and entertainment videos for your pleasure. Are you a fly fisherman? There's also a fly tying desk loaded with materials to construct your favorite patterns. You may choose to swim in our fresh water pool, or at the beach area, connecting our resort to the beautiful Florida Bay.
From our beach and dock area you may expect to see a wide variety of tropical fish, snappers and occasionally a grouper. At night tarpon may be seen hanging around lighted dock areas along with ladyfish, sharks and rays.Tropical birds are always in sight and schools of tropical fish frequently approach the property. Close by, there are shops, supermarkets, churches of every denomination, tennis courts, a bowling alley and a modern medical facility, the newly built Mariners Hospital.
Most importantly, La Jolla is the Florida Keys. Informal, relaxing and unforgettable, here is the best place to forget the world, put away your watch and let the tide keep the time.
